What is a transition swaddle?
A transition swaddle is a bridge between a traditional (regular) swaddle and a sleep sack. The transition swaddle has 1/2 - ¾ quarter-length sleeves that give your baby the feeling of being swaddled but without the restrictions of a swaddle. Read more about transition swaddles here.
Are transition swaddles safe?
Transition swaddles an effective way to help your baby transition out of a regular swaddle. It is not safe to swaddle a baby once they show signs of rolling. Read more about transition swaddle safety here!
Are transition swaddles worth it?
Yes! A transition swaddle can be just what you need if your baby is showing signs of rolling over but still craves the security that the arm feature provides. My baby was used to the normal swaddle, but she started to turn over and we needed to change to a sleeping sack, but having her arms free made it impossible for her to sleep because she would move them all over the place. But when we bought the dream weighted transition swaddle it was incredible. She has her arms free and sleeps very peacefully.

This wasn’t a magic solution to her many wake ups (she’s in the four month sleep regression) but it definitely helps with her Moro reflex. The first night was rough but after about three day, she’s used to not being swaddled and can sleep for 3-4 hour stretches on a good night. She can still move around very easily and has even flipped over in the weighted sack, so I don’t believe it is too heavy. We keep an owlet sock on her, and have not noticed any deviations from her normal vitals.

This has been the perfect transition out of a traditional swaddle. Both of my sons hated being swaddled but still had the Moro reflex, and this helped them sleep without having their arms fully restricted!
