Hi There!
Summer travel is in full swing! As a busy mom of four, I love traveling with my family during the summer, but it can be A LOT to handle.
Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks to navigate summer travel with your family:
1. Plan & Prepare
With airports and destinations experiencing unprecedented wait times and delays, planning and prepping ahead is KEY to fun family travel! We like to arrive at the airport early, stack suitcases by the door the night before, download the kid's favorite shows in case of bad wifi, and have a yummy early breakfast the day of travel. Bringing a swaddle or sleep sack is a MUST for my little one to feel calm and relaxed no matter where we are.
2. Keep Your Essentials Close
Whether you're traveling by car or plane, it's important to have your essentials at the ready. I like to pack extra clothes, diapers, pajamas, medication, and food in my carry-on. I love having our essentials in one place for easy access. Keeping your essentials close by can help you feel confident and calm on the off chance you need it!
3. Adjust Expectations
It's tempting to want to go, go, go during your travels! I know I want to do as much as we can during a vacation. Something that has helped me is to adjust my expectations and slow down and avoid packing too many things into our daily schedules. This has helped my family to be happier and have more fun because there is downtime to sleep with our sleep essentials and relax with time to have fun and explore. It's all about balance!
Summer is one of my favorite times of the year, and I LOVE spending time with my family. It can be challenging to travel together, but planning ahead, keeping our essentials close, and adjusting our schedule has helped us so much! Wishing you and your family a summer full of FUN!
XO, Tara
