Meet Delta’s Family!
Hi! Our family is made up of myself, Hayden, my wife Chelsie, and our two daughters, Dani and Delta. Right now, we’re walking through a challenging season as Delta is fighting leukemia, but she’s the toughest 3-year-old we know. She’s currently undergoing treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® with another 1.5 years to go, but every day, we’re reminded of her incredible strength and resilience.
Our Journey with St. Jude
Delta’s journey began in late 2023 when a cold turned into something much more serious. After a series of tests, we were told that she had B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was overwhelming, but St. Jude has been there for us every step of the way, helping us understand what lies ahead and giving Delta the best care possible.
We’ve faced some tough days. Delta’s treatment plan is based on a protocol developed at St. Jude to give her the most personalized care possible while minimizing side effects. It’s been hard on all of us, but Delta continues to push through, even after dealing with brain surgery and physical therapy following an infection early in her chemo.
Delta’s Resilience
Our little girl has a strength we couldn’t have imagined. Whether it’s pushing through exhaustion to run into my arms after a long drive or accepting that her “purple bugs” need medicine that will make her hair fall out, she takes it all in stride. She’s a country girl through and through, raised in the Mississippi Delta, where she spent her days playing outside with baby chicks or catching frogs. That toughness carries her through the hardest days of treatment.
Improving Delta’s Sleep
Throughout Delta’s treatment, one of the most challenging aspects has been her sleep. As a parent, I’ve watched how the chemotherapy and other treatments have affected her rest, which is so important for her recovery. Her medical team suggested exploring different ways to help improve her sleep quality, and one of the recommendations was to try a gently weighted blanket.
We had heard wonderful things about Dreamland Baby’s weighted sleep products and decided to give it a try. The gentle weight is designed to offer a calming effect, helping children like Delta feel more secure and restful at night. We’re hopeful that this extra bit of comfort will give her the peaceful, healing sleep she needs to continue facing each day with strength.
