Meet the Murphy Family!
Hi! I’m Emma—nurse, wife, and mom to two beautiful girls. Our youngest, Millie, is almost six months old, and her big sister Remi couldn’t be more proud. Remi is full of personality, always singing, playing peek-a-boo, and doing everything she can to make Millie smile. She comforts her when she’s upset, brings her toys, and sings to her—it melts our hearts to see their bond grow.
My husband is a firefighter, and I work long shifts as a nurse. Some days, he comes home from a 24-hour shift just in time for me to head out for my 12-hour one. It’s not always easy balancing everything, but we make a conscious effort to spend quality time together as a family whenever we can.
A Difficult Diagnosis
Millie was recently diagnosed with failure to thrive, and while we don’t yet have all the answers, we’re doing everything we can to support her. She now has an NG tube for nutrition, and it’s been an emotional journey—filled with questions, worries, and many sleepless nights. My 11 years as a nurse gave me some comfort in knowing how to advocate for Millie’s care and understand what questions to ask. Still, nothing quite prepares you for when it’s your own child.
Our Dreamland Baby Story
I discovered Dreamland Baby on Instagram. At the time, we were desperate to help Millie sleep better—especially after her NG tube placement made it impossible for her to self-soothe. We had to use mitts to keep her from pulling the tube out, but they weren’t ideal. I saw the amazing reviews for the Weighted Transition Swaddle and hoped it would help comfort her the way she used to comfort herself.
And it did. It’s helped Millie sleep calmly and peacefully, and more importantly, it’s helped her NG tube stay in place throughout the night. The pajamas are also amazing—they give us the flexibility to keep her hands covered if needed, or let them be free when it’s time to play. That kind of thoughtful design goes a long way when you're dealing with medical equipment.
The Dreamland Difference
Before we found Dreamland Baby, Millie’s sleep—especially her naps—was fragmented and inconsistent. Now, she gets longer, more restful stretches of sleep, which makes a noticeable difference in her mood and energy. Better naps also mean she has more stamina for physical therapy and can better tolerate her many doctor’s appointments.
Our older daughter Remi is energetic and very vocal, so the Dreamland Baby Sound Machine has been another unexpected lifesaver. It helps create a peaceful environment for Millie to rest, even with a typical noisy toddler in the house.
From One Parent to Another
To any parent going through something similar—whether it’s medical concerns, sleep issues, or just the daily overwhelm—know that you're not alone. What you’re dealing with is hard. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. But there is hope, there is help, and there are products out there (like Dreamland Baby) that truly make a difference. Trust your instincts, lean on your support system, and most importantly, give yourself grace. You’re doing better than you think.
